Yes, phones should be allowed in schools because it keeps in touch with family and friends. But the misuse of cell phones should not be tolerated during school hours.
Because of decreasing work ethic, student's tend to have the habit to text rather than doing classwork assignments. That's bad, the student wouldn't be learning anything. If I were a teacher and I had the power to take away student's cell phones for the rest of the day I would. Because it distracts kids from learning required material to proceed to the next grade. Taking away cell phones will increases good working habits.
