Dragons' Den First Semester Week 13: Saturday

My favorite thing to do on a Saturday is hang out with my roomate Waldo. During this activity I usually hang out in his room since he is my roomate. In front of him is his TV and PS3, after basketball practice I walk to my house. When we get to my house, boys 4, we play Mortal Kombat. When one game is over we find a new on to watch. I enjoy doing this because it's funny when Waldo plays his video games, it entertains me.

Should there be more restrictions on credit card use?  Marta: Thinks that using credit cards will eventually put you in a situation, that you do not want to be in. Especially if your having to due time in jail. Jeff: There should be more restrictions on credit card use because as the time your payment is due, many are in debt. Hunter: Restrictions on credit card use should because theres so many people who are loses so much money, many do not have a job. Behind that, this is the reason we in the United States have budget cuts as of now.

“Through the Tunnel” Before You Read: Prove Yourself Paragraph

A time when I had to prove myself was when my teammates on the basketball team, and this was recent last Friday. The coach kept on building adrenaline, so we had full court suicides. The coach says "go,"and I was gone. I pretty much burned everybody on the court, but when it was the second time I didn't do very well. But at least I proved to the team that I'm fast, sometimes I get lazy. It was my time to shine when I went full speed. Honestly, I never seen myself run so quick in my life, well only when I was six or seven. I surprized most of the team including the coaches, the coaches were like "are you going to let Andrew beat you?!" That made me feel great, fun days.

“Typhoid Fever” – Before You Read: Present-Tense Childhood Memory

I am seven years old and sitting on the couch playing spider man. I see myself playing to long,  then my cousin E.J. comes over and has a smile on his face. We go outside to play on the playground, my mom is working and my dad is watching us play. E.J is one of my favorite cousins, my Auntie Elsa went out for work and we are having fun. Me and my cousin went inside my grandma's house, we had vienna sausage and rice. Me and E.J always ate this most of the time we were growing up. I mean we used to pee together, spend the night over at his really nice house. As years passed, in middle school I ran away from my grandparents house because they were not really teaching me anything. So I headed to my moms house, as I were living there we had hard times with the roommates in my mom's house. I should of told my parent's, or cops that they were doing drug deals in the house. But I didn't, that is why I'm here at San Pasqual. Making bad choices leads you to group homes or even worse. I never seen my relatives for about 3 years, and when they saw me in 2010. They thought I was a giant, it was funny but me and my cousin's connection isn't active how it used to be. It is called a broken bond, so my life learn lesson is to never hide the truth. Always tell the truth, even if it costs your life.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 13.5: Thanksgiving

Many food on this day it was incredible. No wonder this happens once a year, I love Thanksgiving. Having fun with my relatives and I love playing video games like old times playing Halo:Reach with my three favorite cousins. My cousin’s names are Elijah or I call him E.J, there’s Jesse, and Christian. Most of my relatives were there including my other cousin’s Serena and Carlo; both my auntie’s Jeanette, Elsa. My uncle’s are, Jesse, Jr, it feels great for me just being there with them.

Symbolism: Symbol of Self

I think an item would be a person, and that is a picture of my brother. If he was in a life or death situation, I would risk my life trying to help him advance to the other side of this ledge. If he were ever in this situation, I think that if anythings precious to you. Anybody, it does not matter who that person is. They will put their life at risk to save something that is precious to them. Like Waldo for example, if his Playstation 3 was falling from some cliff I would not doubt Waldo throwing himself towards his system and probably save his system rather than himself falling and hitting the ground with such impact. He is maybe that type of game addict but that's something I would do if my brother fell. I would grab him in the air, and then use myself as a cushion to embrace this impact that he will feel. But at least I saved him leaving injuries, it's better than not living at all.

JCCS Academic Language Week 14 - Interview

Andrew: No but there's this conspiracy of human clones being grown in tubes like you see in movies like Pokémon: The First Movie, which had cloning. Never Let Me Go is an upcoming sci-fi movie that contained cloning. But the clone being fully-grown and not having memories of what you know. Marta: Cloning is almost exactly like copying someone in order to be replaced. A clone would be like an identical twin, the clone can be younger than your normal self. Hunter: They can not develop into normal child, having their own memories and personalities, and from genetics , would be unreal from a normal child. The clone would probably be considered a child of the mother. Jeff: What would be scary is that it would be the child of the mom that it came out of, regardless of it's genetic origins. But that's just my opinion, it's not solid info so don't quote me on this students of San Pasqual.

Do violent video games contribute to youth violence?

Video games might contribute to youth violence, it depends on each person. Some people have the tendency to mimic what they see while others can simply enjoy the entertainment aspect of gaming.video games do contribute to youth violence because kids are too busy playing video games rather than doing their homework. It does not only affect the kids but the emotions that the kids go through every single day.when kids play video games, it can over stimulates your brain. It's more difficult to access certain parts of your brain which is responsible for rational thinking, and instead you use an emotional part of the brain and make impulsive decisions which includes violent behaviors.

The Storyteller" Another Point of View Paragraph

My aunt is instructing me, my little sister and little brother, a dumb story. This story was really about a girl which is like an angel, the story just makes us want to lie down and just sleep all day. My sister looked more interested within the carriage, my brother is just sitting around singing his stupid song. I wish my aunt would really shut her mouth, there's other stories she said to us a while ago, they are similar. After the story was over with, I showed the worst expression ever encountered. This guy a few feet back of the carriage, speaks ; he tells me that he could said a greater story. But the man wanted to tell me more of a better story, something that's fun. More of an excitement, something different. One particular girl, was great stories that my aunt tells me. Some random guy started telling us a story…

"The Storyteller" Before You Read: Memorable Books from My Childhood

1.) No David!
My favorite book from my childhood would be "No, David" because it shows the way I was when I was very young. I did not have any respect until I was 8 or 9. My grandparents taught me respect, showing respect is like having manners to others like adults. We as teens are supposed to show respect no matter who the person is, showing respect will equal to positive karma. Going through life showing no respect might not be important, learning it is definitely a learning experience if you have not yet learned manners.

Third Person Narrator: Plumber, Princess, & Attacking Turtle

A young prince lived in a shining castle, a prince that has earned his way to become a prince. Before he was "Prince of Imperial City," he was a peasant as well. But as time passed he trained into a mighty warrior, later he became a knight and slain a foul beast of destruction. Anyway, he had everything his heart desired as prince but was spoiled, selfish and unkind like any other prince. Alone without a glamorous wife, one day in the winter night. An old peasant came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter, food, just away from the bitter cold, startled at her facial appearance. He asks her why she's here, what really has brought here. She says to him, "Be wary young prince, need no worries."The prince is lost with words, shuts the door, The lady walks towards the caravan across a field of grain. But later does he know the rose is enchanted, he smells it. He's now witnessing a sound of a beast underneath him. It must be the storage room, he grabs his torch on the wall. Grabs his keys on the shelf, unlocks the wooden door to the storage room. He encounters red eyes, throwing his torch at him. He now can see most of its features. First Person Narrator: House Parent/Lead Staff Point of View

As I walked into Boys 4 today, I thought it would be boring. Then, I get a call from Melissa. She asks if I want head to Club 8, which is a Native American group. When a person named Jeff, who is a staff asked me what Club 8 was. So told him what it was, as I went it was fantastic. My sister Elizabeth was there, plenty of food that particularly Del Taco. The food was great, since I was not really at the house the topic I'm going to talk about has nothing that involves the house. Plus, I left at 3:30. So now I am doing late homework. But other than that, mostly everyone is eating chocolate cake. So am I, but today was a good day.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 11: Sports & Grades

In order to play sports, student athletes in San Diego must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Do you think students should be required to have good grades in order to play sports? Well it's not just for our benefit, we need to get a 2.0 to be successful. Making it easy for the student to be accepted into a higher learning environment, depending on your GPA. The higher the college, which is division 1 and 2. Require's that you need 3.0 or higher in order to be accepted into this really big school. I don't know about this semester, next semester is that I least get a 3.0. It's really obvious because of grade requirements, coaches from colleges just don't want an athlete. They look at academics and highlights, so if your a good ball player and has a 2.0, your most likely going to get into a division 4/5 college. Which is terrible, so grades are important.

Academic Language Practice Paragaph 11

Should all Americans have the right to free health care? American's should not have the right to have free health care because when you look at the word free, nothing is free especially within America. Every little thing from welfare, medical benefits are not free. This is not a free country, but if you join the military or navy. There is a hospital located in Balboa, where my grandparents go is completely free. It may charge high but they have an option to have a discount. Other than that, people who are not in the military or navy should not have the right to do whatever they want because their living. For citizens who are poor, good luck with welfare. If you don't pay the government back, they have the authority to hold you in jail. If I owned the entire country personally, I would give free health benefits, but at least pay me back at sometime.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 10: Homecoming

Homecoming was great, I had fun. Rossy just brightened up the night, she looked really great. She wore a black dress, I wore a maroon long sleeved dress shirt. Most staffs and students kept complimenting me, being at the dance with Rossy felt as if I were in a dream. We danced to this slow song, but other than that I did not dance at all. I cannot dance, it was fun watching the group on the floor doing the dougie. I don't know why or what, I just hate pictures. All that matters is that I went, and the fact that Rossy was there with me.

Should doctors be allowed to help critically ill patients commit suicide? Yes, because they will eventually die either way. Other than that doctors are helping patients commit suicide, that is  just unbelievable. It's like being malicous, trying to get someone to do something they do not want to do. I understand that it is important to keep the patient alive, but it's pretty much like forcing the patient. Doing it in a different or way to commit the suicide, it's definitely confusing. Not just confusing, well anything that is said to the doctors should not be listened.

Dia de los Muertos - Pick a Person

Lennie Small is the person who I picked who is from the novel called "Of Mice and Men", it is also a movie. Lennie is a observant person because why else would he carry a dead mice with him, sucks that his best friend George who takes care of him grabs the mice and throws it thousands of feet. Lennie's aggressive, he grabs Curley wife's hair and accidentally kills her because of griping the hair aggressively. Lennie is also adventurous towards being out of prison which George assists him in, but other than escaping prison Lennie is always saying "George, George, where are we going." Even though Lennie's last name is "Small," actually 7 foot or more another character trait is tall. Lennie's a shy guy such as someone like my self, when it comes to Curley's wife liking Lennie. Lennie is bashful, too bad he had to kill her.

Damien, the freshman, is cool because he says things that have meanings to them.
Jeremiah, the freshman, is funny and the reason is that he says things that are inappropriate.
Waldo, the freshman, is chill because he shares interesting stories to me all the time whenever we are going to bed.
Robert, the senior, is awesome because he shares stuff with me.

Academic Language Practice Paragaph 9

Should junk food be banned in school vending machines? Yes, so that our school would be cleaner and healthier. But having something to eat or drink is a great for snacks, the student's just don't clean up after themselves. Trash is laying around, it's a mess. The schools kind of polluted, thanks to the janitor it is not polluted at some point. I think it is a great way to make money for our school too, the trash situation is just ridiculous. So yes, San Pasqual Academy should not have a vending machine and stick to the Dragon's Lounge.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 8: Friends or Adults?

Are friends or caring adults more important to you? Why? It's a confusing question, but friends would be more important to me because when I care for a friend it is pretty much like family. Friends would rather hear everything thing you say, when ever you speak with an adult they say "go away", or "I'm busy." Now with friends who listen, mainly listen to most of the things you say or do. The only people who do listen to me is my parents, my sister's Elizabeth and Jackie, and the staff at my house Hunter, sometimes Ms.Priester, but other than those people. The friends and family are the ones who I care for, including Ms.Priester.

Academic Language Practice Paragaph 8

Do the Ten Commandments belong in school? Well, yes because when you think of it.Rules do apply to the Ten Commandments. When you make rules in school there's respect, which is one of them. "Thou shall not kill,"is a very important rule to have while you live. Because once you kill someone or somebody, it might cost you life in prison or whatever the consequence is. Another commandment is "thou shall not steal," which can also make you in deep trouble leading to jails, prison, etc. "Honor your father and mother," relates to school because it shows respect towards elders."You shall not commit adultery"  which teaches you to not cheat on your spouse or wife. So the Ten Commandments belong in there, as I read it.

Biographical Narratives - Campus Adult Character Traits

Hunter, the staff, is intelligent. Because anytime I ask a question, he does not hesitate to answer my random questions that are out of the blue. Whenever he does answer, it falls into this lesson to what he is saying. He cares for most of us in Boys 4, I can sense whenever he's angry. Hunter just keeps quiet and does not say a word. Then, as I ask him what's wrong. Hunter says to me, "just the negativity, I don't feed into it." Hearing that, I leave him alone for the day. I'm thinking he's lost in a thought, sometimes I do the same thing. But not only thinking, going deep into the thought he's having. I notice  it anytime he looks spaced out. Just my observation, so far. I actually learn new things as I speak with him, smarter than I was before.

Dia de los Muertos - Article Summary

Dia de los Muertos is celebration on November 1st which people celebrate, it's called the "Day of the Dead". Mainly people around the world celebrate this not only in the Mexican culture. But it is a Mexican culture to celebrate this, honoring the dead may in fact have good karma for anyone who does celebrate this. It's definitely spiritual, but not just spiritually. It may in fact show love and commitment of loved ones, honoring the one's who are important to you. I guess people who neglects the ancestors, they believe the ancestor can haunt you. Many celebrate this by using an altar with offering upon it, cleaning and decorating the graves. Of course shows mutual respect. Then telling stories about the deceased in, and exchanging sugar skulls and other sweets.

Internet Safety Project - Public or Private Profile

Why should teenagers set their social networking profiles to private? Kids should set their profiles to private because older people who are about 30 or older find so many ways to get a hold of the kid who is talking to them. By doing this, the suspect might ask for personal information. Or they may find your information on your profile if you choose to set it public. If you think about how many kids are abducted by rapists, people who are just sick. Once they have your contact info your done, this suspect may either stalk you wherever you may go. Making it obvious that someone may in fact be following you. I don't know what it was back then, but when I stole clothes at the "5 shirts for 10$" store. I noticed an undercover kept following me around for two or more months. But some of these people may have looked me up on Myspace, found my contact information. Then now stalking me, so when you rob a bank. Don't put your contact, or personal information online. Keep it to yourself.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 7: Would You Rather?

Would you rather be smart or pretty for the rest of your life? I would rather be smart for the rest of my life because when you look at the outline of being smart it takes you to the level of Wall Street. Then as you proceed in making your own estate, nothing can get into your way. If I was smart enough, my dream would be to make an invention to fly towards the moon. It would not only make history, but discover history itself. Finding new species of humans on the moon is crazy as I think about it.Well, they would not be called humans but extra-terrestrials. The sky is not only our limit to where we can learn from, learning new things is definitely a long journey to the moon. Just think about it, watch this video and understand.

Academic Language Practice Paragaph 7

Will the popularity of vampires in literature and movies fade away? There is a possibility that vampire literature will come to an end, but ask yourself. What will I be for Halloween? The moment you don't think of anything besides a vampire, right. Anyways, most people on Halloween are likely to be a vampire. I was a vampire at nine years old on Holloween, I did not want to be a vampire. It's all that I had in mind and besides, it's better than being a Toosie Roll that my mom had. Better than nothing, but it feels great pretending to be a vampire. The voice was easy too, you just had to speak french. But that is only a factor, anytime I think about vampires I think of Twilight or Dracula. The plot of vampire literature is to enjoy the image of vampires. Anyone reading this post should definitely read "Cirque De Freak".

“Two Kinds” Character Analysis Paragraph

"Two Kinds" by Amy Tan is a story about a young Japanese girl named Jing-Mei, she is obedient . The only time she says something to her mother was when she gets to that point, Jing-Mei had to abandon the pian because her mother yelled at her. Then abused her too when Jing-Mei refused, and I'm guessing Jing-Mei look tired. In Jing-Mei's head, she might be thinking that she should tell her mother she's done with what she's doing. A quote for the story I like is surprised at how easily the notes came back to me.

"Two Kinds" Mother-Daughter Conflict

In the conflict between Jing-mei and her mother, Jing-mei/her mother is bossy. Like when her mother grabs her, like in the story."No! I won't! I screamed. She snapped off the TV, yanked me by the arm and pulled me off the floor. She was frighteningly strong, half pulling, half carrying me towards the piano as I kicked the throw rugs under my feet. She lifted me up onto the hard bench. I was sobbing by now, looking at her bitterly. Her chest was heaving even more and her mouth was open, smiling crazily as if she were pleased that I was crying." The reason I put this part of text in the story is because it show's how bossy her mother is when Jing-Mei is not playing or doing anything else but the piano. If her mom was so dedicated to reaching the profit goal, would that be anything Jing-Mei would want in her life. It's kind of like forcing someone to do something by using force, which is child abuse. For only Jing-Mei's benefit right, so that she becomes a successful musician.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 6: Campus Donations

How do you feel about the people who donate money and supplies to San Pasqual Academy? I feel spoiled, not only spoiled but about being a foster youth individual. I mean it's nice having all these free accessories, clothes, and footwear. But having to much attention from these people who are handing out these free stuff are very uncomfortable. Like the guy who handed out backpack's and tells to me, "one of these wonderful backpacks are waiting to be taken home."The guy grinned, he was old. This pissed me off, he just made fun of me. Just using kindness without saying the actual meaning. I thought, should say these backpacks are ugly. Held in the negativity, my face had no expression then walked away. Effortlessly doing what I have to do, and get this over with before it get's ugly. Grabbed as much stuff as I can, four different pairs was included shorts and then left. I am thankful for everything they do for us, these people need to lay off negative comments though.

Academic Language Practice Paragaph 6

Should undocumented immigrants be given citizenship? I think not, because it would be dangerous if they did not have an ID. I mean what if the person was an alien? It would be pretty weird if this man/woman flew from mars or some other universe. Maybe it's why we call them illegal aliens, makes sense.  If the Illegal immigrants work and do not commit any crime. They should be employed and pay taxes like everyone else. The United States should have welcome more professional and specialists around the world. Including these illegal immigrants. For them it's really hard to get jobs in thier position, a country without any good pay. I feel sorry for whoever is an immigrant, if I had a choice to choose whether immagrants could have citizenship or could not. I would definitely choose could. But they must meet the expectations given, which are paying taxes, paying rent, paying off fee's. I would allow anybody to live in the United States. People who are not american have no luck of finding anything would have it as of now if I were a president. So it's a yes and no.

"Two Kinds" Jing-Mei's Shoes Paragraph

How would you feel if someone was pushing you to become a prodigy piano player? I would take in what ever that person pushes me into doing and there would be a 100% chance of becoming successful, famous. Just like basketball, what ever you do will benefit what will happen later on. The girl Jing-Mei should have to take in whatever her mom tells her so that she takes in disappointment, it's going to make her a better musician. Bringing her to fame and fortune, but that's only if she deals with the stress and disgrace from her mom. Like me whenever I play basketball, anytime someone yells or screams at me I do better than usual. Feeding off negativity will not only make you better at what you do, but better all around. I definitely feed off negativity from my peers which brings strength. Basketball is my passion, I wonder if Jing-Mei's passion is piano. We will find out soon enough.

"Two Kinds" Before You Read: Something You Don't Want to Do

A time when I was forced to do something was when my older sister Jackie forced me to ride a roller coaster called Screaming Mountain at California Adventures, 11 or 12 years old. This was really back then in Nye Elementary School. It might of been fourth or fifth grade, I remember being real young and having Ms.Berry. But anyway, forcing to go on a roller coaster is like giving up an opportunity. I went on waiting in line with my two sisters. Of course I was forced to ride behind my two sisters, the pressure I felt hearing the count down I wished I had not stepped off gravity. Thinking it went 200-300 miles per hour, my stomach felt empty. Felt as if my kidney's fell out of place, the tears falling out my eyes going down a drop 500 feet in the air was an unbelievable experience was remarkable. So being forced to go on roller coasters is not that scary once you know that your family's with you 100%.

Should vaccinations be required for all children? Yes, of course because kids may carry harmful diseases which may lead to plaque. Viruses are strong and can spread easily, it will also be uncontrollable. When we take vaccines, it cures or purify's the infected someone. Killing sickness such as flu's, colds, whooping cough, and it varies in viruses. Kids are in need for vaccinations for many different reasons. They need to meet the requirements in order to live longer and healthier. I'm no health expert, but I know basic knowledge to why kids need medicine or vaccination. So ask yourself, what if we did not have vaccinations?

"Everyday Use" Before You Read: Tradition

Fifteen years from now, I will be a successful; having three kids with my wife. Since I am Native American, I will try and teach my kids who are also Native American, how to process this religion. I am catholic, so will my kids be catholic. I might try to take them to church as much as possible. Then on the side I might have celebrations, and traditions about Native American culture. My tribe is Chippewa, my kids are too. Together we can accomplish anything we put our mind to. Include praying to the kids, to let them know that God is watching us. Whenever we do something.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 5: Life Lesson

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?A lesson I learned from my grandparents was never talk back, if someone is older than you are. Obey anything they tell you because it shows respect, when learning the hard way it should. For example, cursing at older people so that the older person doesn't think highly of you. Getting used to these will guide you in the wrong direction. Making yourself look bad or the way you carry yourself, when I learned the hard way I had discipline from my grandparents. Especially my grandpa Ely, he was very mean but fun to be around most of the time. He makes me laugh all the time, when I get older he tells me I am going to be a gentleman. So obeyed anything my grandparents asked of me.

Dragons' Den First Semester Week 4: Power Outage

On Thursday evening, I was playing my roommate's Gamecube when suddenly the power shut off. Then I hear Waldo say, "Robert, what did you do?" I laughed. After laughing at the joke I started to walk around the house complaining and already knew that there was a blackout. My experience with this the last time with Josh was funner, but this time the blackout was interesting. The staff Hunter tells me his life stories, I was amazed at what's being herd through my ears. About how he's trapped at the very top of the mountain. Stranded there for 24 hours, it was interesting that this caught my attention. I felt his pain at the most recent day of the blackout. It kind of told me something, what would we do without electricity for weeks; days; years. It came clear to me that as of today I should know what it feels like without electricity. My favorite part of the day was when it became dark at night, it was a full moon. It was a kind of like a nightlight, I think we would not need technology if this light from the sky would give us the ability to see. It was funny because the whole boy's side was camping out, well not really. They brought their blankets out and I didn't join. I decided to use the rest of my battery from my PSP. Are we the one's causing global warnings?

“The Pedestrian” Before You Read: Life in 2053

It's 2053, I have wrinkles. I'm a 64 year-old citizen of America, I currently work for NASA. What has became the future, has been done. Cars hovering above my head; Robot's helping the pedestrians, at this very moment a robot is assisting me with my grocery's. It is so heavy! How helpful is this world we now live in!? Is it the greatest, or is it the beginning of a new generation. It's magnificent, beautiful. Better than what we had in my time. It kind of makes me jealous, thinking that technology was everything now could of been helpful before. But they were in the process of it, but here it is now. I am currently at NASA, this extra-terrestrial being is extraordinary. Captured in 1970 when the space mission was a success, we used this being to help us learn many way's to use technology. It's amazing, he's the smartest being I ever spoke to. It's hard keeping up with this guy. But he changed the way we look at life. He's important to us, the highest rank here at NASA. I got off work and opened my car door and flew open. "So high tech!" I thought with absolute amazement, the GPS asked me "where is your next destination Mr.Pascual?" I replied "Home" I drove home using auto drive, which hit about 1200 mph and it's always like riding a roller coaster of some sort. But today, my life is great. I opened my car door, then entered my house using my eye socket in which a laser hit. My house opened, and there I was. Loving life.
