The Odyssey Final Draft Essay
Period 1

In the Odyssey theres a meaning throughout this poem that will teach you a lesson or two. For Odysseus, he did well on this magnificant journey to going home. Is it easy? I think not, he is challenged by obstacles that may block his path to succession. What would happen if you were taken form home, not this foster home but home with your relatives or parents. Just a place where you love, and some UFO spacecraft is about to obduct you. That’s pretty much the great story of the Odyssey. It becomes actually a learning environment your in once you start reading the Odyssey.
When Odysseus became stronger as he was weak before became a hero. For example, it was kind of dirty to eat the cattle even he was told not to. He was hungry as well, I can see that was most difficult not to. What’s even worse than starvation, drowning. For example, Odysseus drowned with this crew but successfully got away thanks to his angel or god. My favorite part of the story was when Odysseus steps up his game and kills Polyphemus or Cyclops. This also shows that Odysseus has the will to get back to his wife Penelope, and home. Because it’s bound to happen. In addition, this shows that Odysseus is fatefully to choosen do follow the right directions or paths that lead him to success. From reading this story Odysseus succeeds as well, and also being with his wife.
As we encounter Odysseus we later know he’s doing positive things, that he makes positive choices which are. Hermes the God of Speed comes to pick up Odysses. He tells Calypso to let him go. Calypso says that his journey will be bead, but lets him go. For example Odyssues hopefully swims to Calypso’s island. Odysseus makes negative choices, for example eating the sheep which Tiresias warns him about. He does not listen to Tiresias and disobeys his order and the prophet is bound to happend. As he kills Polyphemus or Cyclops, the son of Poseidon the God of the Sea. Attempts to drown his crew in the ship, but swims on shore.
When the end is coming since Odysseus completed his quest by facing his fears that made the story or myth so successful into becoming a hero. It may not look like he’s a hero because Odysseus eats the cattle which is disrespectful to the Elder Gods. That is why Zeus thrusts a lighting bolt that kills most of Odysseus men. Even so, he’s safe with Penelope and back home safe. The purpose of the story is to face your fears, learn that disobeying orders will eventually have consequences. To show your true identity always, and never trust Odysseus because he’s not the type to be trusted. I have learned that throughout the story.
